Embrace the camera 8.30.12

I had this post ready to go yesterday and never hit the "publish" button for some reason...
Anyway, just a quick shot of Henry and me at Grandmother's 78th birthday party! He has the best blue eyes:)

And totally random, but my dad likes to right-click-and-save every single picture I post here:) He was complaining that he didn't have this pic from when he came to visit around Easter.
So here you are, Dad/PaPa!

Henry's First Swing!

Thursday again! Thank you Jesus for weekends. I need one!

Tonight, after Shawn came home from work, we took Henry down the street to our neighborhood park. The weather was really nice and Henry just loves being outside. We thought it would be a good time for little man to try out the big kid swings! We brought the shopping cart cover for a little extra padding/germ protection and it worked really well. Henry just loved it and gave us lots of big smiles- I can't wait to take him again!

The Worst Haircut Ever

You must listen. Seriously.
(here)

Just precious. I think I'll need some little girls in the future after listening:)

And a good reminder to make sure you have some audio recorded of your little ones' sweet voices.

What I'm Reading

Sweet boy has been a much better napper lately and we always get a nice long break after bedtime.
(We won't talk about the waking every two hours at night that teething has recently brought on...)
So thankfully, I've been able to dive back into one of my most favorite hobbies-BOOKS!
I've loved reading as long as I can remember.  My mom shares my passion and would always take me to the bookstore for the latest Goosebumps or American Girls book when I was little.
Books and I go way back.

So here are a few I've recently finished.
And of course I read on my kindle in yoga pants with dirty hair
went to the library in a darling outfit and brought home all my books in my monogrammed tote bag:)

1.Unbroken  This true story is unbelievable! Olympics, Hitler, Japanese POW camps, lost at sea, shark attacks.... This man had an amazing life. Not my usual genre, but I couldn't put it down!
2.The American Heiress  I love historical fiction. I read this in hopes to satisfy my Downton Abbey withdrawals. Well written, great details, but I'm sad to say I didn't love the ending.
3.The Sleepeasy Solution  Just finished so I haven't started this method yet. But I really like all the ideas. Much more gentle approach to sleep training than a lot of the books I've read.
4.Gone Girl  So clever! I couldn't put this down. I loved how it was narrated by the two characters. I bet it'd be a great audio book.
5.50 Shades Trilogy  I don't care to discuss these:) But I will say I was surprised at how much I liked the ending. A lot more heartfelt than one would expect.
6.The Kitchen House  One of my new favorites. Set in the time of American slavery and indentured servants. So well written. The characters seemed so real!

So that's what I've been reading lately. I hope to have more books to review soon.
A few extra minutes on the play mat is fine, right? :)

Embrace the Camera- 8.16.12

Today is a great day! Why, you ask?
Today is the first day of my new work schedule.
I will now be just a part-time worker,
12.5 hours per week, but who's counting:)
I'm so excited to be able to spend most of the day at home with my little man.
(One step closer in my plan to be a stay-at-home mama, don't tell my husband:)  )

So we snapped a few pics to remember this happy day!

hey, mama.

no more pics, only food.

love this boy!

Embrace the Camera 8.2.12

Embrace the Camera time!

Henry had his first visit to the Oklahoma Aquarium!
Let's just pretend he was interested in taking this picture with his dear mother:)
We finally got to see Cousin Charlie, Uncle Scott, and Aunt Terry. We had not seen them since last Thanksgiving! Scott is my mom's little brother so Henry and Charlie are actually second cousins.
I was surprised at how interested Henry was in all the exhibits.
He loved watching all the fish swim around and we had a great time!
We ended up buying a family pass so I'm sure there will be several more visits in his future.
It was also the first time he sat in his stroller with out his car seat. He did really well and loved the view, but I think he's still a few weeks away from being totally ready for it.
